THE WIRE SOUNDTRACK

After years of anticipation, the soundtrack to The Wire was finally released on January 8th, 2008, on Nonesuch Records.

The deluxe edition, "...and all the pieces matter.", plays like a mixtape, shifting gears and moods repeatedly, using dialog clips from the show as asides connecting the various sections.

All the end-of-season montage songs are included, and four different versions of "Way Down in The Hole", among many other classic musical moments from the show. Leyh's closing theme "The Fall" also closes the album. A 64-page booklet contains dozens of photos and three essays by David Simon, George Pelecanos, and Jeff Chang.

BEYOND HAMSTERDAM showcases 11 tracks from Baltimore artists used in the show, including Mullyman, Bossman, Diablo, Tyree Colion, and Lafayette Gilchrist.
